  • Louis Amstrong Stadium

Even though it is no longer the largest stadium at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, Louis Armstrong Stadium is still one of the most popular places to watch a "tennis" match.

Louis Armstrong Stadium is the second tennis stadium of the "US Open". The stadium, which held close to 18,000 fans at its peak usage, was named after the famous African American jazz musician, Louis Armstrong (who lived nearby until his death in 1971).

The stadium opened on the site in 1964 for the 1964 New York World's Fair and due to the sponsorship of the Singer Corporation it was called the Singer Bowl. In 1977, the US Open moved to Flushing from Forest Hills. The Singer Bowl was heavily renovated to host the Open, essentially being divided into two new stadia, Louis Armstrong Stadium and the adjacent Grandstand Stadium, which is the third largest stadium at the US Open and has a seating capacity of about 6,000.

It is located at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, in the "New York City" borough of Queens.

In 1997, the stadium was replaced by "Arthur Ashe Stadium" as the main stadium for the US Open. Louis Armstrong Stadium was renovated again, reducing its capacity to around 10,000 and adding a brick facade to match that of the adjacent Ashe Stadium.

  • Arthur Ashe Stadium

Arthur Ashe Stadium, located in Flushing Meadows Park, is the main tennis stadium of the "US Open", the last of each year's four Grand Slam tournaments. The stadium is also where the annual Arthur Ashe Kids Day takes place.

It is located at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, Queens, "New York", near "Shea Stadium", home of the "New York Mets". The stadium was named after the famous African American tennis player, Arthur Ashe, who won the inaugural U.S. Open in which professionals could compete in 1968.

It opened in 1997, replacing "Louis Armstrong Stadium" as the main stadium. Arthur Ashe Stadium, which cost $254 million to build, features 22,547 individual seats, 90 luxury suites, five restaurants and a two-level players' lounge - making it by far the largest outdoor tennis-only venue in the world.

Arthur Ashe Stadium is a four-level structure that features state-of-the-art broadcast and audio systems, 90 luxury suites, five restaurants, a two-level players' lounge, and individual seating for 22,547 fans.

Besides the individual seating increment and the improved restroom facilities, the Arthur Ashe Stadium also includes a two-fold increase in the number of entranceways for fans with upper-level seats and a 30-fold increase in seating availability for people in wheelchairs.
